Jasmine and I have landed without issue in Bangkok, Thailand. Our plan, formed mostly on blind hope and optimism, to meet in a foreign airport we'd never been to before worked out fabulously. I waited for Jasmine in front of what seemed like an arrivals exit and she did indeed emerge. Reunited at long last we tackled the journey into the city proper. It was pretty easy to get to our hostel sky train -> taxi -> hostel. (I even successfully bargained the taxi cab driver into the range suggested by the hostel. Well to be fair at the high end of said range sigh... Maybe I'll get better!)
Below are pictures of our first meal. From a restaurant/street food vendor hybrid. It was very tasty! Although the river we sat beside smelt something foul. Riverside eating is slightly less romantic when evil looking fish keep splashing near you and bags filled with things you'd rather not know about float by. I was very impressed by the quality of the food though.
Jasmine within 1 hour of touring managed (with a little help from clumsy me) to ruin one of the only two pairs of shoes she has. Luckily for her, I'm a chronic over packer with the same size feet. We will have matching feet tans in no time!
Man, is it hot in Thailand! The receptionist at the hostel is already weirded out by the amount of water I've purchased. It's going to be a long six weeks!
